Billiard lighting

Lighting
When you install your lamp above the
billiard table make sure that the lamp is correctly
installed and the lighting is satisfactory. Below you will
find som recommendations for home users and also the
official regulations from The Danish Billiard Union during
tournament. The number of shades/lamps depends on the size
of the table.

Height of the lamp:
We recommend that you install your lamp approx. 90 cm from
the bottom cloth to the bottom of the lampshade. The
official regulations states between 85 - 95 cm.

Light projection:
We recommend a lamp with 3 shades - each shade with at
least 75 watt. The official regulations states at least
520 lux (3 pcs. of 150 watt).

The light projected onto the billiard may not be lower
than 520 lux on the whole surface, the
measuring
instrument is put on the cloth to measure it.

The light must not be too strong
max. 900 lux. in order not to
blind the players.

The distance between the source of light and the playing
surface must be between 85 cm and 95 cm.

The hall should not be in complete nightfall, but it will
have to be leghtened with at least 50 lux.

On televised tournaments
no. 2 & 3 can be avoided.

The light sources must
be flexible in order to allow masse shots.
