Regular maintenance of your soccer table will help protect the investment you have made. Not only will

Cleaning the playing area
If you table comes with a laminate playing area - you can only clean the surface with a dry cloth. If the surface gets wet or moist the wood in the laminate will rise or become irregular.
If you table is with linoleum, glass or tempered sanded glass you can clean the surface with a wet cloth without any problems. In case of an accident where you spill some fluid on the surface - you can easilly wipe it away without damaging the playing area.

Smearing the rods
In time the rods will become harder and harder to rotate - then it is time to grease them up! The cheapest solution is to use regular oil, the kind you also use in the kitchen for food. The effect is the same as when using professional smearing silicone-oil, but food-oil is more greasy and will not stay on the rods very long.  A more long-term solution is to use the professional silicone-spray - this is sprayed directly on the rods and will last a long time.
